The mission of the Public Works Department is to maintain, preserve, and protect the infrastructure resources of the Town in the most efficient and effective manner possible; to provide guidance and assistance to all citizens of the community regarding the development and protection of property and to provide clean, healthy and safe municipal buildings. Public Works is responsible for construction and paving of all roadways (including curbs) as well as snow and ice removal for the 100 road miles in Boxford. They also maintain sidewalks, guardrails, storm drains, culverts and catch basins, street signs and all required street/parking lot markings.

The Parks Division maintains 19 acres of Town owned recreational fields.

Public Works is responsible for maintenance of nine town owned buildings - Town Hall, Police Station, DPW Garage, Communitiy Center, East and West Libraries, East and West Fire Stations and Lincoln Hall.
