HAVE A SMARTPHONE? BOXFORD POLICE HAVE AN APP FOR YOU

The Citizens of Boxford have access to a police app that they can use to send in crime tips or notify them of alerts.

The app is called My Police Department or MyPD, and it’s available for both Android and iPhone users.

When you’re out in your neighborhood or around the town, a person that has this app can click on a button and send in anything suspicious, crime related, or even minor issues, like speeding or parking issues

Residents can take a picture of any issue and send that right in, the message goes right to our Officers so they can follow up on it. It is the same thing as calling a tip line or sending an email but it offers extra features. However it is not for immediate assistance or emergencies, 9-1-1 should be used for anything needing urgent attention.

The app also allows the Boxford police to send alerts to residents. Alerts might include weather issues or a major road closure. We can send the alerts direct or via twitter but either way will send an alert to your device and you can then read the message by clicking on it.

Crime and safety issues are also important for citizens to know about. The app includes resources and links on a number of topics; such as, victim resources, domestic violence, press releases, missing children, and many more.

MyPD is free for residents, contains no advertising, and users do not need to share personal information or set up an account to use the app.  Any information sharing is optional.

Citizens looking to connect with the Boxford Police should search for “MyPD” in their app store. Once the app is downloaded and the agency chosen it will always open to the Boxford Police Department and its resources.
