Willow Rd Culvert Replacement Update #3

The Willow Road Culvert Replacement Project began on Monday, June 6th.  A project page is available on the Town website with information on the project and updates:  https://www.town.boxford.ma.us/home/pages/culvert-replacement-project-89...

Below is an end-of-week update from DPW Superintendent/ Town Engineer Chris Olbrot.  We thank all residents and West Boxford businesses for your patience as we work to complete this critical culvert project efficiently and ahead of schedule.

Update #3 6/27

The subcontractor for R.  Bates finished installing the guardrail today, June 27th. Concurrently, EJ Paving’s subcontractor began pavement reconstruction at the predetermined limits. It is expected that the milling will be completed tomorrow and paving will be scheduled for this Wednesday, June 29th. Once paving is complete the DPW will place temporary pavement markings in anticipation of final striping.  At this point, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the roadway will be reopened to through traffic and the detour be eliminated in both directions by Wednesday afternoon/early evening.

This constitutes substantial completion of the project. I will have a walkthrough with the contractor and we will address any punch list items, if necessary. Final completion/project close out is likely still a few weeks away as adequare vegetation needs to establish on the disturbed slopes.
