Willow Rd Culvert Replacement Update #2

New Culvert Installation

The Willow Road Culvert Replacement Project began on Monday, June 6th.  A project page is available on the Town website with information on the project and updates: https://www.town.boxford.ma.us/home/pages/culvert-replacement-project-89...

Below is an end-of-week update from DPW Superintendent/ Town Engineer Chris Olbrot.  We thank all residents and West Boxford businesses for your patience as we work to complete this critical culvert project efficiently and ahead of schedule.

Update #2 (6/16)

The contractor made great progress this week. Once the footings were installed the contractor began placing the culvert and headwall precast structures. This was completed on Wednesday 6/15. The contractor is now in the process of securing the entire structure together with the appropriate hardware and grouting the joints.  Once that is completed the culvert will be backfilled in stages so that adequate compaction can be achieved. The town is now working with its paving contractor (EJ Paving) to coordinate paving portions of Willow Rd and the area of disturbance for this project, while the detour is still in place, to minimize further traffic disruptions. The town is pleased to be ahead of the anticipated schedule and it appears that the roadway will be opened ahead of the July 4th holiday weekend, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
