Alternating, signalized traffic on Bare Hill Road over I-95
bare hill rd partial closure
BOXFORD – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing lane closures on Bare Hill Road over Interstate 95 will be in effect beginning Monday, April 1, at 7:00 a.m. Vehicles travelling on Bare Hill Road will encounter a temporary traffic signal while the bridge is reduced to one lane, allowing alternating traffic through the work area.

This will allow work to resume on the bridge rehabilitation and preservation project currently under construction. Work will consist of the removal of the pavement and subsequent concrete deck repairs as needed. It will also include installation of new bridge pavement, bridge joints, sidewalk repairs and guardrail improvements. Work on this bridge is anticipated to be completed by early September 2024.

This work is part of a $11.4 Million Bridge Rehabilitation Project comprised of six individual bridges over Interstate 95, Interstate 495 and Route 1, in the towns of Boxford, Merrimac and Peabody.

Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place.
