Motor Vehicle Excise Tax

Motor Vehicle Excise Tax bills are mailed during the month of February each year for those vehicles garaged in Boxford with valid registrations on January 1st. For vehicles that are registered during the calendar year, excise tax bills are issued throughout the year. Bills are due 30 days after mailing. Interest at the rate of 12% per annum plus a demand fee of $10 is charged on overdue bills. Delinquent excise tax bills are subject to the issuance of a warrant for collection by the Deputy Collector of Taxes.

Unpaid warrants result in the marking of licenses and registrations for non-renewal by the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
