Bridge out on Lockwood Lane

Bridge Closed

This is an important message for residents of the Lockwood Lane area:  Apparently due to the heavy rains this Fall, the bridge over Fish Brook on Lockwood Lane has been severely damaged.  Bridge engineers from the State and the town’s consulting engineers are unanimous in their recommendation that the bridge be closed immediately.  Vehicular access over this bridge is now prohibited.

Access for residents that live on Lockwood (with the exception of number 4), Arrowhead Farms, Forest, Sedgewick, Haymeadow and Barnside will now be through either Silverbrook Road or Lockwood Lane from Topsfield ONLY.

Based on preliminary information from MassDOT bridge engineers, this bridge will need to be rebuilt.  Therefore, the bridge will be closed for several months.  Public safety departments are aware of this situation have made arrangements for alternative emergency response routes for these homes.

The Town understands this is an extreme inconvenience for residents and will keep you informed as plans for repair/replacement progress.  Updates will be available on the Town’s website boxfordma.gov and the Town’s Facebook account.  If you do have any questions, please contact the Boxford DPW during regular business hours at 978-352-6555.
