Mission Statement
The Board of Selectmen functions as the Chief Executive body of the Town. Its five members are elected to three year terms with one or two seats up for election each year. The Board acts as the chief policy making body of the Town and oversees the activities of the Town Administrator. The Town Administrator is responsible for supervising the day to day operations of all town departments under the direct control of the Board of Selectmen.
The Selectmen are responsible for generation of the Warrants for the Annual and Special Town Meetings. They also issue the Warrants for any elections or override votes scheduled. The Board works together with the Finance Director, and Finance Committee members to establish the annual operating budget for the Town and to provide a stable economic environment for its citizens. They adopt town administrative policies and provide a valuable link to other boards within the Town.
Selectmen meet every Monday night from September 1st through May 31st. Meetings are at 7:30PM and are held in Meeting Room #1 of the Town Hall. Meetings are cablecast live on Comcast Cable and Verizon FIOS.
During the months of June, July and August, the Selectmen hold regular meetings twice monthly. Any meetings that fall on a Monday holiday are cancelled.
